King's Birthday Honours: Congratulations to our Patron and supporters

The King's Birthday Honours list has been published, marking the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the UK. It includes some of our wonderful celebrity supporters, such as our Patron, Professor Carol Brayne CBE.

Congratulations Professor Carol Brayne CBE

Our Patron, Professor Carol Brayne, CBE is being recognised with an honour in this year's King’s Birthday Honours list. Carol will receive a Damehood for services to medicine, medical research and public health.

Carol’s interest in the natural history of brain health and dementia in populations has seen her lead several large, long-term research studies. She was Co-Chair of the Alzheimer's Society's Research Advisory Committee until 2022.

Sohail Rahman recognised with an OBE

We are also pleased to see award-winning journalist Sohail Rahman recognised with an OBE for services to journalism and charitable fundraising. Sohail has raised vital funds for Alzheimer’s Society, after his father Habib sadly died with dementia.

Sohail continues to work with us to raise awareness of dementia by sharing his own experience.

A win for the Lionesses

And finally, we are delighted to see Lionesses Michelle Agyemang, Jess Carter, Hannah Hampton, Lauren James, Chloe Kelly and Alessia Russo recognised with MBEs for services to association football.

In support of our Forget Me Not Appeal, Alessia talked openly about the impact of dementia on her family. You can watch the full video below to see the Lionesses meeting people affected by dementia to hear the stories behind their Forget Me Not badges.
