Alzheimer’s Society is built on a shared purpose, and so that’s why we make sure we celebrate, support and recognise the people who make a change every day.
Wellbeing at work
Helping you stay healthy and caring about your wellbeing is at the heart of Alzheimer’s Society and want all our employees to feel motivated to work for us.
We offer several ways to support your health, including a Health Shield Healthcare Plan where you can claim cash back to help pay for healthcare expenses such as optical checks, dental treatment and much more.
We understand the importance of positive mental health, which is why we host wellbeing support such as our Employee Assistance Programme, giving you access to 24/7 free guidance and support along with face to face and telephone counselling. We have lots of lived experience networks to support colleagues in the workplace as well.
Work-life balance
We offer 27 days of annual leave plus bank holidays each year, increasing to 30 over time.
We’ve also made most of our bank holidays flexible. This means that if a bank holiday falls on what would be a normal working day, colleagues can choose to work this and take another day off instead - except 25/26 December and 1 January, when we are all away from work.
Our family friendly policies are designed to support our employees with their family commitments. If you're eligible for statutory maternity, adoption and paternity pay, we'll top that up to full pay for 16 weeks. We also have initiatives around our ways of working, including flexible working.
Employee Forum
Made up of colleagues from across the Society, our Employee Forum is an independent elected body that represents the voice of our employees.
The forum is a way for our employees to share their experiences, views and opinions, ensuring improvement and change is influenced by everyone at the Society.
Lived experience networks
Lived experience networks are a group of people, often with a shared heritage, experience or characteristic that come together to support each other and the organisation in which they work. At Alzheimer’s Society, we have the following networks:
- Early Careers Network
- Endometriosis and Menstrual Health Network
- Equity Network – for ethnically diverse colleagues, such as those from Black African, Black Caribbean and Asian communities.
- Disability and Long-term Conditions Network
- Grief and Bereavement Network
- Interfaith Network
- LGBTQIA+ Network
- Menopause Matters Network
- Mental Health Network
- Neurodivergent Network
We’ll soon be launching a Carers Network and Parents and Guardians Networks.
Recognising our people
We know it’s always important to celebrate the incredible contributions our people make through their work and volunteering. Here are just some of the ways we recognise our people:
- Recognition schemes: all employees can appreciate the efforts of those they work with, with a mixture of day-to-day eCards, long term service awards and, for celebrating special moments, small financial awards.
- People awards: our annual internal awards to celebrate our employees and volunteers.
- Society Plus: employees can take advantage of our Employee Discount Scheme, with access to exclusive discounts and special offers, saving you money at hundreds of high street stores.
Financial wellbeing and long-term benefits: we support and reward our employees now and for the future. We also match pension contributions up to 8% and offer loan and life assurance schemes.
Learning and development
We want our people to feel empowered. We offer a range of career development opportunities such as apprenticeship pathways, coaching and mentoring, internal training and much more.
