Choose your Will-writing service

As you write your Will and reflect on the things that matter most to you, you might also consider including a gift to Alzheimer's Society. Gifts from Wills help fund support, campaigns and research to help us beat dementia.

To select the best service for you, consider where you live, how you prefer to write your Will and what you need it to cover.

Which Will-writing service should I choose?

Alzheimer’s Society’s Will to Remember service lets you choose a local participating solicitor in England, Wales or Northern Ireland. It may be a good place to start if you want legal advice or think your wishes could be more complex.

If you live in England or Wales and your wishes are straightforward, you can write your Will online at your own pace with our partner Octopus Legacy.

You can also request a callback from Octopus Legacy to discuss your needs and arrange a Will-writing phone appointment. This may suit you if you if your wishes are still straightforward, but you would rather speak to someone than complete online questions yourself.

You may need more help with your Will if, for example, you own a business or property overseas, your family arrangements are complicated, or someone depends on you financially.

Tell your solicitor about your circumstances when enquiring and they will be able to explain whether the free simple Will offer covers what you need or if you would have to pay anything yourself on top of this.

If you live with dementia, a diagnosis does not automatically mean you cannot make a Will. If you would like support at a Will to Remember appointment, read about accessible Will-writing options and tell us or your solicitor what you need when you book. Your solicitor will discuss your wishes with you and consider whether they can take your instructions.

Alzheimer’s Society cannot give legal, financial or tax advice.

You don’t have to work it out alone. Contact your local Gifts in Wills Officer, who can explain the options and help you decide next steps. For advice about your own Will, speak to a solicitor or Will-writing provider.
