Here at Alzheimer’s Society, we define wellbeing as a combination of a person's physical, mental, emotional, social and financial health. It’s strongly linked to life satisfaction, a sense of meaning or purpose and self-care; all of which can build resilience to help navigate life events.

The world can feel overwhelming, with constant news about global challenges like economic pressures, climate change, and social issues often affecting our daily lives. People from various communities can be directly impacted by lots of different events happening here in the UK or overseas. This can be complicated even further if you’re caring for or volunteering directly with people affected by dementia, who might respond to world events in different and sometimes challenging ways due to their diagnosis.

The steady flow of updates through media and social platforms can make it hard to fully show up, and it’s natural to experience feelings such as anxiety, stress, sadness, or frustration. Looking after your wellbeing is important to us, especially when you’re supporting others.

You can access a free and confidential helpline provided by Bupa, day or night, 24/7 to talk about anything.Call 0800 269 616 for a free and entirely confidential chat.

By proactively supporting our own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others we can all play a key role in fostering a place that’s resilient and inclusive, even in the face of societal challenges.
