Earlier this year, my younger sister, Judith Roden, sadly passed away at the age of 63 having been diagnosed 5 years ago with early onset Alzheimers. The last few months have been very challenging as, following an big issue at her home in November 2025, i realised that she could no longer remain at her house, even with the carers coming in each day. After a week in hospital, i managed to find her a place in a care home, where our mother had stayed when she had dementia. Initially she seemed to settle fairly well, but early this year her condition deteriorated quite quickly. and she passed away in February, on what would have been our mothers birthday. The Alzheimers society have been a big help along the way, and i believe it is vital to support them in whatever ways we can to look for a cure from this awful disease.

My Mum passed away on the 11th April 2026, 2 days after her 72nd birthday. She had suffered with Alzheimers for 2 and a half years. My Mum was born way too soon in life, she taught me not to be judgemental, I'll be forever grateful for that and I just wish I'd had more time with her ♥️

My husband was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia last year after previously being diagnosed with Cognitive Impairment 4 years before. We are in the early stages, he does get very confused sometimes and angry with himself because he can't remember how to do something very simple. We more good days at this time but I know things will deteriorate, therefore the work you do is very important.

My dear mother-in-law died from Alzheimers in December 2023. Unfortunately she had to be in a nursing home, but had a wonderful time in her mind, getting re-married & having a house built at Sandbanks! We all still miss her dearly - grandchildren & g.grandchildren

It's taken Alzheimers to finally accept that bad things don't only happen to everyone else. When he was 70 (he's now 77) my husband started to get confused. After a diagnosis it's gone from bad to worse. He barely speaks and I'm having a carer each morning to shower and dress him.
Fortunately I can leave him when I need to and friends are my lifeblood. But life has gone from full technicolour to monochrome.

My lovely mum died in June 2012 after suffering from dementia for several years. Initially managing at home with my dad, when my dad died, her condition deteriorated and she could no longer manage at home. She was later cared for in a lovely nursing home by carers who had experience of dementia. Their understanding & support made all the difference to me and my family.

I wear my Forget me Not Badge for my Mum who had Alzheimer’s and also my Dad who had Vascular Dementia, but sadly both my Parents are no longer with us, I lost my Dad on 03/10/2023 and I lost my Mum on 10/03/2025 which is Heartbreaking 💔💔 and I miss my Mum and Dad Bigtime, hopefully a cure can be found in the Future as watching a loved one go through the pain & trauma of such a horrible affliction just breaks your Heart and is really tough on myself and the rest of the family to live with such a huge loss of two very special people and at times is surreal knowing I will never see my Mum and Dad again 💔💔

Mu was a seamstresses. in her early working life and went on to be a silver service waitress until her retirement then she became a doting grandmother and great-grandmother mum was a lovely lady and she is missed greatly.

I have a Aunty who is in her Nineties she was a lovely Aunty to my children over many years and also good to my wife and l, in her day she was involved as a amateur Actress and became Mayor of Epping Town in Essex , this lady has also been involved with the church in Epping when she retired so l can only give praise to her and her husband who also died of dementia.

My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers, then my husband with Vascular Dementia and more recently my sister with a combination of both. When she asked I explained to her that she had both types. She always had a good sense of humour, a dry wit and her comment was " I always was greedy". She ended her life in a very caring Care Home on May 17.
