Companionship

Companionship

About the service

The Companionship service (formally Companion Calls) is specifically designed for individuals living with dementia and their carers, providing a warm and supportive channel for conversation and connection. Companionship includes a series of regular, friendly telephone calls, typically scheduled weekly, initiated by one of our dedicated volunteers. Whether it's discussing a favourite TV show, sharing thoughts on the weather, or simply providing a space to talk about how things are going, Companionship is a comforting and engaging experience. In addition to the calls, service users have the opportunity to join in on zoom online groups and we’ll now be encouraging service users to join the Dementia Support Forum as another way to find companionship. The forum is free, available 24/7, and offers friendly spaces like the Tea Room for hobbies, interests, and everyday chat.
