What is Trek26?

Trek26 is a series of treks in stunning locations across England and Wales. Trekkers have the option to trek either26 or 13 miles. Thousands of people take on the challenge each year to raise money in support of people with dementia.

Why we need you!

Trekking a marathon or half-marathon is no mean feat so we love to give our trekkers as much support as possible on the day. This could be a cup of tea at one of our rest stops, a friendly word of encouragement on the route, or a triumphant cheer across the finish line. We can guarantee that it means the world to our trekkers.

This role will be perfect for you if you are:

• Friendly, welcoming and enjoy being part of a large event.
• Flexible and willing to take on a variety of different tasks as needed.
• A good communicator and are comfortable talking to people from all walks of life.

The route

Our marathon route starts to the north of Salisbury, and we walk past the magnificent 13th-century cathedral, home of the tallest spire in the UK. We continue over water meadows, high ridges and quiet woodland, our paths following medieval trading routes much of the time.

Our half marathon option will join the group in the picturesque village of Great Wishford and together we will enjoy the fabulous views of Stonehenge, before circling south and tackling the undulating chalk ridges and quiet valleys back to Old Sarum.

Rest Stop Volunteers

As our trekkers make their way around the route, they refresh at our rest stops.

As a rest stop volunteer you will be:

  • Cheering trekkers into their rest stop
  • Chatting to trekkers and checking on their wellbeing
  • Making hot drinks/fill water bottles
  • Encourage trekkers to take snacks
  • Explaining the next section of the route and offering encouragement

*Most of our rest stops are in rural locations so we ask that rest stop volunteers have a car.

Route Volunteers

As a route volunteer you will be:

  • Cheering trekkers along the route
  • Chatting to trekkers and checking on their wellbeing
  • Marshalling key sections of the route
  • Explaining the next section of the route and offering encouragement

*Most of our routes are in rural locations so we ask that volunteers have their own transport or are familiar with public transport

Finish Line Volunteers

As a finish line volunteer you will be:

  • Cheering trekkers across the finish line
  • Handing out well-deserved medals and prosecco
  • Taking photos of trekkers
  • Making hot drinks and filling water bottles
  • Supporting with selling merchandise

*Most of our event hubs are in rural locations so we ask that volunteers have their own transport or are familiar with public transport
