Thank you for being part of the Society and providing genuine hope for the future.

We are all different, different ages, genders, ethnicities, live in different places and follow different careers. But dementia doesn’t discriminate. Whilst all these factors make us different, dementia can’t tell the difference. And that is why here at Alzheimer’s Society, it is important we recognise the individuality of dementia to push diagnosis, care and treatment forward.

Your support today will help build a world where everyone gets the diagnosis, treatment and care they need and where dementia no longer devastates lives.

Shirley’s journey with dementia

Shirley was in her eighties when her daughter noticed she was repeating herself and forgetting things. After tests and a brain scan, doctors told her she had Alzheimer’s. She didn’t let the diagnosis break her spirit. Cooking had once been her passion, feeding Bert’s cricket team with rotis, chow mein, and tandoori chicken. These days she doesn’t cook much, but she helps Bert in the kitchen and keeps busy at home.

Despite dementia, she continues to stay active, connect with others, and share her experiences. Her advice to others is simple: don’t isolate yourself. Find people who understand, seek support, and remember, help is out there.

Your donation can provide life-changing support, ensuring no one goes through this journey without help.
