Global Brain Health Institute

This partnership aims to support emerging leaders researching aging and dementia, to advance pilot projects, activities, and/or studies which improve outcomes in brain health.

Partnering to support brain health leaders across the world

We are partnering with the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) and the Alzheimer’s Association US to create an award which supports emerging research leaders across a range of projects. The Pilot Awards for Global Health Leaders is a unique funding program, focusing on advancing small-scale pilot projects that seek to reduce the impact of dementia and improve brain health worldwide.

Pilot projects play a key role in advancing scientific understanding of dementia. We're especially interested in studies that aim to delay or prevent Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and to improve care and quality of life for those living with the condition.

Expanding our reach

Another initiative the Global Brain Health Institute house is the Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health program. It's one of seven global, interconnected programs addressing local and global disparities in brain health and dementia. The program aims to drive change through education, policy, advocacy and evidence-based interventions.

Alzheimer’s Society specifically funds UK-based projects while partnering on all global initiatives.

The program now boasts 266 fellows—current and alumni—from 62 countries. This year’s cohort expands the Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health program to eight new countries: Cameroon, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, New Zealand, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo, and Uganda.

Merging science and science, the program fosters an environment where diverse perspectives help to build solutions to global brain health challenges, enhancing the lives of those affected by dementia.

Other research and partnerships

Currently we are funding a number of research projects and exciting pioneering initiatives, as well as partnering with various organisations to deliver dementia research of the highest quality.
