Ian and Jan were excited for retirement, but everything changed when Ian was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s soon after leaving work in 2017. A local support group called Rusty Brains, led by Tim from Alzheimer’s Society, became a lifeline. It gave them space to talk, share experiences and feel understood, one of many groups the charity supports to help people with dementia stay connected and heard.
