Dementia is on the rise and only research can beat it. Will you help?

This is our chance to change the future of dementia

We’re the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity, receiving grant applications from top scientists every year. Dementia affects one in three people born today. There’s no cure, and it’s the UK’s biggest killer. Research has never been more urgent.

There’s been something of a revolution in dementia research of late, and this year’s research funding applications are an unmissable chance to keep this momentum going.  The last few years have seen rapid developments in both treatment and diagnosis of dementia. Now, the best and brightest minds are applying for our research grants to push on even further. The impact of this research on people living with dementia and their families could be enormous.

There’s no time to lose. Donate today to help fund research that could beat dementia faster, the results could be life-changing for all of us. The deadline of 27 March is fast approaching to fund these potentially life changing projects.

Will you help fund research to beat dementia faster for people like Martin?

New research could make a huge difference for people affected by dementia. Martin was finally diagnosed with young‑onset Alzheimer’s in 2023, after three difficult years of feeling unheard and struggling to get answers. He first noticed changes in 2020, but an early scan showed no dementia. As things got worse, he struggled at work and eventually had to leave the job he loved. A later scan revealed the signs that had been there all along.

Stories like Martin’s are sadly common. That’s why researchers at UCL, led by Dr Bing Li, are developing a simple blood test to help diagnose Alzheimer’s earlier and more accurately and your support can help make it happen.

Will you donate today to help fund new treatments, emerging technologies and groundbreaking blood tests that could help us beat dementia sooner?

George has Alzheimer’s, and both he and his wife Tencie were struggling until Althea, their Dementia Adviser, helped them understand his symptoms, feel less alone and easier to cope.

When Margaret was diagnosed with dementia, she and Derek felt lost until Michelle, their adviser, helped them find support, regain confidence, and reconnect with life.

Sarah, who lives with dementia, and her husband Martyn take part in Alzheimer’s Society’s Time for Dementia programme, helping future healthcare professionals understand the condition.

Dementia is on the rise and only research can beat it. Will you help?

Each application turned away is a lost opportunity, and when it comes to dementia research every project has the potential to uncover life-changing answers.
