Alzheimer’s Society and British Airways
Working together to create a dementia inclusive airline.
We’ve partnered with British Airways since 2023 with the shared goal of creating a dementia inclusive airline.
Together, we are working towards several key objectives:
- Raising vital funds to provide help and hope for families affected by dementia.
- Increasing awareness of dementia among colleagues and customers.
- Equipping British Airways colleagues with the training and knowledge needed to effectively support customers impacted by dementia.
Since the start of our partnership, British Airways have raised over £325,000 for Alzheimer’s Society. Colleagues have supported the partnership by taking on events such as the London Marathon and Berlin Marathon, Alzheimer’s Society’s Forget Me Not Appeal and Memory Walk and organising bake sales and coffee mornings with colleagues.
We also participated in an initiative where British Airways give each colleague a £20 donation which they can donate to their charity of choice from the British Airways Better World Community Fund partners.
BA have also showcased the partnership on board, hosting a partnership film and the documentary Anna Richardson: Love Loss and Dementia as part of their inflight entertainment between February and July 2025.
We are excited to be one of British Airways' five principal Community Fund partners in 2025 who will benefit from customers' on-board donations between May and December. British Airways customers also support the partnership by donating their Avios points.
To help foster a greater understanding of dementia within the business, British Airways has been running monthly Dementia Friends sessions for colleagues. We are also collaborating on the creation of a bespoke Dementia Training Programme for 200 customer-facing BA colleagues. This will be shaped by insight gathered from colleagues and individuals affected by dementia.
Together, British Airways and Alzheimer’s Society are committed to creating a brighter future for those impacted by dementia, ensuring travel remains accessible and joyful.
