Use of Data for Advertising and Analytics

We work with advertising partners including Google, Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram), and TikTok to improve the relevance and effectiveness of our marketing. To do this, we may share hashed non-special category user data (such as email addresses, phone numbers, first and last names, post codes) with these platforms to help match users across services and measure conversions. This user data is hashed using cryptographic security methods to ensure the plain text data is unavailable to our partners.

We also use Google Signals in Google Analytics, which enables us to collect additional information about users who have signed into their Google accounts and consented to this data sharing with both Google (via their Ad Personalisation settings) and Alzheimer’s Society. This includes cross-device tracking and more detailed demographic insights. This does not allow us to access/ view an individual user’s Google account data.

We use Google Consent Mode in the advanced mode, which allows us to adjust how data is collected based on your consent choices. When you do not consent, Google tags still load but operate in a restricted mode. In this mode:

  • No cookies are set.
  • Only anonymous, cookieless pings are sent to Google.
  • This data is used in aggregate to help us understand general website usage and to support conversion modelling, which estimates how many users may have converted without tracking individuals.

You can learn more about how Google uses this data in this document.
