Volunteer Learning Refresh 2026
As we enter a new year, to provide Help and Hope to all those affected by dementia in 2026, we must first make sure we're a safe and secure Society.
From January to the end of March 2026, all regular volunteers will need to complete two or three learning modules. All volunteers will need to complete Health and Safety and Safeguarding modules, and some (where the role requires it) will also need to complete Data Protection.
The Volunteer Learning Refresh is important to ensure that all our amazing volunteers have the relevant knowledge and understanding to do their roles to the best of their abilities. The learning refresh won’t only help volunteers, but also the people you interact with – Alzheimer’s Society colleagues, supporters, and everyone affected by dementia. We are going through this process to ensure that every volunteer is up to the same standards of information – which is extremely important with topics such as Safeguarding and Health and Safety.
We’ve had some wonderful volunteers provide feedback for not only the learning modules, though also how easy and straightforward it is to access them. We’re confident that this will be a positive learning experience and we massively appreciate you taking the time to complete the learning and help us in Keeping our Society Safe!
Depending on your preference, you can complete this in one of five ways:
- Completing the Elearning modules by following the direct links sent to your email (don’t forget to submit the Microsoft Form at the end to register completion.)
- Watching the video recording of the modules by following the direct links sent to your email (don’t forget to submit the Microsoft Form at the end to register completion.)
- Attending a live webinar where the Volunteering Team will run through the learning. Dates coming soon! Please contact us to book onto a specific webinar.
- Completing workbooks for the modules and having the answers reviewed. Contact us and we can post these out to you (link to online versions coming soon).
- Your volunteer manager or another member of the local team may hold in-person group sessions where you can review the learning together.
As a valued volunteer, please set some time aside to complete this learning - it should take no more than 20 - 30 minutes per module. It's important you meet the deadline of Tuesday 31 March, otherwise you may not be able to be active in your role until completion.
Please review the Volunteer FAQ (link coming soon) if you have any questions or email our dedicated inbox at [email protected].
