Former footballer vows to put the boot into dementia by supporting Alzheimer’s Society
A former professional footballer living with dementia is determined to give the condition the boot. Dave Serella, who played for Nottingham Forest, Walsall and Blackpool, is backing the Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk fundraising campaign to raise money for vital research.

Rise in deaths due to dementia
New mortality statistics for England and Wales show that dementia and Alzheimer’s disease were the leading cause of death in 2017, for the third consecutive year, accounting for more than one in eight of all deaths (12.7%).

New research into links between herpes and dementia - Alzheimer's Society comment
A research review published in Frontiers in Ageing Neuroscience claims that the herpes virus responsible for cold sores can also cause Alzheimer's disease, and that antiviral drugs can drastically reduce dementia risk for people with severe herpes infections.
