The challenge
Take on England’s finest countryside at your pace as a walk, jog, or run while fundraising for Alzheimer's Society! Challenge basecamp is in Kendal, and it’s a 100km looped route with a few tough hills to Ambleside, a halfway point by Lake Windermere, with stunning views enroute and a huge welcome back at basecamp!
Join up to 2000 adventurers and sign up as an individual or as a team - you’ll get full support all the way, plenty of food and drink, optional camping and transfers, a special medal, t-shirt and celebration finish.
With 50km half, marathon, quarter and 10km distance options also available – there’s a Lake District Challenge for everyone! Push yourself further in 2026, take on an Ultra Challenge – the UK’s number one series of treks and trail challenges.

- Full Challenge (100km) –Kendal to Kendal loop
- 1st Half Challenge (50km) – Kendal to Lakeside, Windermere
- 2nd Half Challenge (50km) – Lakeside, Windermere to Kendal
- 1st Quarter Challenge (29km) – Kendal to Ambleside
Fundraising
You'll pay a small registration fee and then get fundraising for Alzheimer's Society! You only need to raise half of the fundraising target three weeks ahead of the Lake District Ultra Challenge to confirm your place, you can then top up the rest during, and after, the challenge!
- Full Challenge (100km): £50 registration fee + £575 in fundraising
- Half Challenge (50km): £40 registration fee + £375 in fundraising
- Quarter Challenge (29km): £30 registration fee + £75 in fundraising
- 10km Challenge: £20 registration fee + £100 in fundraising
You can also do mixed funding and pay a higher contribution to the cost of your place and fundraise less:
- Full Challenge (100km): £110 registration fee + £330 in fundraising
- Half Challenge (50km): £75 registration fee + £225 in fundraising
- Quarter Challenge (29km): £50 registration fee + £150 in fundraising
- 10km Challenge: £22.50 registration fee + £70 in fundraising
