  Volunteer befrienders help make a positive difference in the lives of people living with dementia. Befrienders are placed depending on shared hobbies and interests to enjoy time together. Befrienders can accompany people shopping, walks or maybe just a chat in the comfort of their own home.

• Forgetful Friends Cafe
  The cafe brings together people living with dementia, carers, family and friends for a sociable and relaxed evening. Each cafe has a speaker, raffle, buffet and entertainment. • Peer Support Group in Merthyr Tydfil

• Sing Aloud Choir
  A group for people living with dementia and their carers to come along and enjoy song and music. Held every Thursday at the Merthyr Rugby Club from 14:00-16:00. For further information please call 01685 353919 to speak to a member of staff.
• Singing for the Brain in Merthyr Tydfil
  Singing for the Brain is a form of music therapy for people living with dementia. It offers a sensory experience and includes activities of repetition which help build in the memory for song and music. Held every Monday at the High Street Baptist Church, Merthyr Tydfil from 11.00am-12:00 (refreshments are available from 10:30). Hidden in the fun of singing are activities which build on the well known preserved memory within the brain, even when memories are hard to retrieve, music is especially easy to recall.
• Wednesday Walkers in Merthyr Tydfil
  This group has been set up for people living with dementia and their carers to make new friends and enjoy lovely local scenery. The routes selected are shorter walks over flat/gently sloping trails in and around the Cwm Taf area.
