Dementia Support Services provide support to people with dementia and their carers to help them to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. They also assist people with dementia and their carers to identify their needs and to access appropriate services. This service can be provided through one to one support, home visits etc as appropriate.
  • Singing for the brain
This is a structured group session for people with dementia and their carers based on music therapy through singing. The group is led by a trained facilitator who in each session will offer all the opportunity to socialise, receive and give peer support and engage and actively participate in singing in a supportive atmosphere.
  • The Meet & Eat Club
This Club is open to anyone worried about their memory, someone else’s memory or affected by dementia. Alzheimer's Society facilitates an open discussion around amongst other things, the diagnosis of dementia and its consequences in an informal, social environment. The Club also provides practical information and support, as well as the opportunity for people with dementia, their families and carers to ask questions and to listen to others experiences.
