This group is to help people with dementia and their families to feel part of society, where they are supported to access and participate in local activities. - Chippenham Carers Group
These are structured regular support groups for the carers of people with dementia, and are facilitated by the Alzheimer's Society. Those attending will have the chance to discuss, amongst other things, the diagnosis of dementia and its consequences in an informal environment with other members of the group. These groups are the place to share concerns, experiences and coping mechanisms, as well as a place to make friends. The group is held every last Wednesday of the month. - Dementia Support Service - North Wiltshire
Dementia Support Services provide support to people with dementia and their carers to help them to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being and putting them in more control of their lives. They also assist people with dementia and their carers to identify their needs and to access appropriate services. This service can be provided through one to one support, home visits etc. as needed. This service could be delivered through a Dementia Adviser Service, a Dementia Support Worker Service or through a combination of the two. - Home Support Service - North Wiltshire
This is a one to one support service for people with dementia who are living in their own homes. Home Support staff visit the home providing meaningful companionship, stimulation and individual care for the person with dementia. This can also include trips out, walks and visits to local places of interest as required. This service also enables carers to have a short regular respite break. - Memory Cafe North Wiltshire
Cafes are open to anyone worried about their memory, worried about someone else's memory or affected by dementia. They provide practical information and support, as well as the opportunity for people with dementia, their families and carers to ask questions and to listen to others' experiences. They also provide an informal and social environment in which to learn new skills, undertake meaningful activities and listen to guest speakers. These are structured group sessions for people with dementia and their carers based on music therapy and singing. Groups are led by a trained facilitator who in each session will offer all the opportunity to socialise, receive and give peer support and engage and actively participate in singing in a supportive atmosphere. This is held fortnightly between 10.30 and 12 on a Thursday in Sheldon Road Methodist Church, Audley Road, Chippenham, SN14 0DU. - Singing for the brain - Corsham
These are structured group sessions for people with dementia and their carers based on music therapy and singing. Groups are led by a trained facilitator who in each session will offer all the opportunity to socialise, receive and give peer support and engage and actively participate in singing in a supportive atmosphere. Every Tuesday from 2pm to 3.30pm in Corsham Community Centre, Beechfield Road, Corsham SN13 9DN. - Singing for the Brain, Malmesbury
