Befriending services provide personalised support for people with dementia and/or their carers either in their own home or during outings and activieis in the community. - Carers' Support Group (Filton)
These are structured regular support groups for the carers of people with dementia and are facilitated by Alzheimer's Society. Those attending will have the chance to discuss, amongst other things, the diagnosis of dementia and its consequences in an informal environment with other members of the group. These groups are the place to share concerns, experiences and coping mechanisms, as well as a place to make friends. A day support service for younger people with dementia which provides personalised care and support in a safe environment. People with dementia have the opportunity to take part in meaningful activities and will be supported to decide how they spend their time, and be encouraged to maintain their independence where appropriate. Support will be available with both health and personal care needs.
