- Advocacy (Leicester City)
The Advocacy service is a free and independent service working with people with dementia, their families and carers throughout Leicester City. Advocacy is about helping you to speak up for yourself or having someone to speak on your behalf if you need it. The advocacy service is sensitive to any particular cultural, language or other communication needs you may have. The aim of the service seeks to influence social change and disadvantage by enabling those who experience disempowerment to have a direct say in the issues that affect their lives. - Alzheimer's Society Drop in (Blaby)
An informal cafe group for both people with memory problems/dementia and their families/carers. An opportunity for carers of anyone with memory problems or dementia to take a break from caring responsibilities, share experiences and learn in a supportive environment, with speakers or activities arranged to provide information or for entertainment. Our Dementia Adviser service will give you information you need to make the right decisions. Your Dementia Adviser is trained to ensure that you make the most out of life by guiding you to all the information you need. They will also tell you about the services which can support you and your family. You can choose the way you have contact with our Dementia Adviser in the way that suits you best, whether it's by phone, email or face to face. Best of all, the Alzheimer's Society will ensure that you have your own named Dementia Adviser. This service is for people in the Hinckley & Bosworth area. Access to the Dementia Adviser service is through your GP. - Dementia Support (Leicestershire)
A service which provides support and information for carers of people first diagnosed with dementia, as well as those who've been caring for some time. Support can also be offered to those living on their own with dementia. Info, advice and support - Side by Side
The Side by Side Befriending Service is a unique scheme tailored to meet the needs of people in the early stages of dementia who reside at home in the City of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It provides friendship and companionship on a one to one basis between the person with dementia and a volunteer. - Side by Side (Leicester City)
