- Befriending
Befriender providing one to one support to enable person with dementia to continue to pursue hobbies and participate in community life. Please contact the Dementia Support Worker for further information. - Care to Talk Group
Care to Talk is a monthly carers support group which is held from 2pm to 4pm on the following dates in 2012: 11 July, 8 August, 5 September, 3 October, 14 November, 12 December. In 2013 the group will be held on the second Wednesday of the month. It is held at the Dunmow Day Centre, Chequers Lane, Great Dunmow CM6 1EQ Carers can meet with other carers which will enable them to feel more informed about their caring role, have a greater understanding about dementia and feel less isolated. In addition, people with dementia can accompany carers and join a reminiscence group which takes place in an adjoining room at the same time. - CrISP information Programme
5 week information course for carers whose relatives have recently been diagnosed with dementia. The first week is a one hour introductory session to enable people to get to know each other and the facilitator, and the subsequent four weeks offer 3 hour sessions which will increase the knowledge and skills to help them support their relative or friend with dementia. - Dementia Support
Dedicated Dementia Support Workers provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, whether in their own homes or other locations. - Dementia support in memory clinics
Dementia support workers are based within the memory clinics to offer immediate support and information following diagnosis. They will also provide further support by offering home visits, if requested. - Dunmow Memory Cafe
The cafe takes place on the fourth Tuesday of each month between 10.00am and 12 noon. It is held at The Talberd Room, Foakes Hall, Stortford Road, Great Dunmow, CM6 1DG. The memory cafe welcomes people who are worried about their memory, people who have recently been diagnosed with dementia and their carers and people who would like to know more about dementia, and the practical help and support available locally. A guest speaker usually attends the cafe to present information on topics of interest to people with dementia and their carers. - Information
Providing information about dementia in the form of Information packs, Leaflets, telephone information service, loan library and visits. Onward referral to a Dementia Support Worker. - Jubilee Gardening Group
The group meets on a Friday between 10 am and 12 noon in the summer months at the Jubilee allotment in Dunmow. People with dementia enjoy working together to grow plants and vegetables. Please contact the service office for further information. - Memory Cafe for people with Young Onset Dementia
This group meets monthly on a Tuesday morning from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm in the meeting room at Dunmow Library. Please contact the service office for further information. - The Memory Cafe, Saffron Walden
Meets on the first Tuesday of the month between 2 pm and 4 pm at the Town Hall in Saffron Waldon. Information and support with guest speakers. Please contact the service office for further information.
