The Dementia Adviser offers support and information, focusing on the person with dementia and thier needs to make the right decisions about their future. This service is directed primarily at people in the early stages of dementia and their carers. The café is a facilitated social event providing structured activity, information giving, open discussion and social engagement. Our Dementia Support Workers and health professionals will be there to answer questions and offer support. There is no formal referral process or assessment to attend the café. The café operates as an open event. Held one Thursday a month at David Rayner Centre, Scotsdale Garden Centre, Great Shelford, Cambs CB22 5JT. There is a nominal charge for this service. This service is run by a Dementia Support Worker and a qualified Music Therapist. This weekly structured group is for people with dementia and their carers and designed around the principles of music therapy and singing. The Singing for the Brain© sessions are designed to be an enjoyable, fun social group where those attending are able to seek peer support combined with active participation.
