Services offered

  • Advocacy service
    Information, support and representation for people with dementia, supporting them to say what they want, secure their rights, represent their interest and obtain services they are entitled to.
  • Current carers - support group - Gateshead office
    Group provides the opportunity to meet other carers, gain mutual support, gain information and socialise.
  • Current carers - support group Whickham
    Group provides the opportunity to meet other carers, gain mutual support, gain information and socialise.
  • Dementia Cafe
    Opportunity for people with dementia, their family and friends to meet in a supportive environment which provides a wide range of information on living with dementia from health and social care services and the voluntary sector. Held at Gateshead Civic Centre.
  • Dementia support service
    Information, guidance and support to carers of people with dementia, provided on a one-to-one basis by Dementia Support Workers.
  • Information service
    Information service, on the telephone or face to face visits to the Gateshead office by arrangement. Fact sheets and wider information about dementia and related support services. Resource library - items are available for loan - please phone Gateshead office on 0191 477 7490 for details.
  • Marigold Court Lunch Club
    Weekly luncheon club held in Housing with Care Scheme for people with dementia.
  • Short break/Befriending
    This is a respite service which provides companionship and social support to the person with dementia in their home and supports them in their hobbies and interests, to enable their carer to have a break from their caring role. The person with dementia must have an indentified carer who will benefit from the respite provided. The service is provided by volunteers and one paid worker. This service does not provide personal care. It is not registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
