Smart Thinking: Cheating dementia

'Smart Thinking: Cheating Dementia' was a day of BBC programming across all news outputs (radio, TV and online) around the theme of reducing risk of dementia. The BBC aimed to act as a guide for its audience members, leading them through the maze of existing information around risk factors for dementia and helping to establish what advice people should follow.

Alzheimer's Society worked closely with the BBC on a number of elements of this project. In particular, a meeting chaired by the Alzheimer's Society brought together a panel of independent experts to discuss the current evidence around the best ways to reduce risk of dementia. More information about this panel and its findings is included below.
