Alzheimer’s Society is the leading care and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. Dementia affects over 800,000 people in the UK alone and numbers continue to grow.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated person to provide support to people with dementia and their carers helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. The person appointed will be expected to manage there own caseload covering the Wolverhampton area.
Alzheimer’s Society’s Black Country Team is working in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council to develop a dementia café for Black Caribbean and Black British people to complement the other established cafes in the location. Part of the Dementia Support Worker’s role will be to develop this new initiative.
An understanding of dementia and an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is required along with a thorough understanding of the needs of Black Caribbean and Black British people. The role requires that you are able to travel independently around the Black Country area.
It is desirable that you have experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies.
