Volunteer: Carers Support Group, Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire

Where is it you want me to volunteer?

The Whittlesey Carers Support Group will take place once a month at the Methodist Reform Church, Queen Street, Whittlesey on the second Tuesday of each month from 10:30am - 12pm.

What will I be doing?

This group provides practical and emotional support for carers of people living with dementia, providing them with essential information to help look after their loved ones.

You will be required to help support the group facilitator deliver the group, including setting up and packing away, making refreshments, talking to carers and helping them to engage in the group.

Will the role be suitable for you?

Knowledge of, or a willingness to learn about, dementia and how it can affect individuals, their families and carers

Good listening and communication skills

Ability to be calm, patient and caring

Ability to show empathy

Punctuality and reliability

Ability to complete basic records in writing (where relevant)

Ability to volunteer within service boundaries

An understanding of, and commitment to, confidentiality

A willingness to learn about, and be committed to, the Society's values and principles

A commitment to teamwork with volunteers and staff from a variety of backgrounds

A commitment to attend relevant learning and development workshops.

How much time do you expect me to commit?

Once a month for 2 hours.
