Driving and travelling
Many people with dementia continue to drive and travel after their diagnoses.
If they wish to continue driving, a person with dementia must fulfil certain legal requirements. When the person's condition deteriorates to the point where they are unsafe on the roads, they must stop driving.
Going on holiday can be enjoyable for people with dementia and carers. It enables them to share new experiences and it provides a break from routine. Many people with dementia also like to travel alone, although again this can become more difficult as the dementia progresses.
