A practical dementia reference book for when you need to check a fact or address a concern

From the April 2015 issue of our magazine, Janet Baylis, Manager of the Society's Dementia Knowledge Centre, reviews a useful reference book.

Alzheimer's and other dementias: answers at your fingertips by Alex Bailey

This is a really useful, practical reference book to dip into when you need to check a fact or are worried about some aspect of dementia.

This updated fourth edition has a new author who is a consultant old-age psychiatrist. The book answers 282 questions that are often asked by people living with dementia, all answered in a clear way that most people will be able to understand.

The financial and legal chapters give basic information about specific situations such as how to put a Lasting Power of Attorney in place or where to get expert help if a person with dementia moves into a care home.

There is a useful glossary of terms and a list of organisations to contact with their web addresses.

This book has been selected for Reading Well Books on Prescription for dementia and will be available to borrow from public libraries in England.

Class Health (2014), £19.99, ISBN: 9781859595527, from our online shop and elsewhere.
