Scouts and Alzheimer's Society - a million hands.

Alzheimer's Society is part of The Scout Association's A Million Hands programme which encourages members of the Scouting movement to take social action in your local community.

Watch our video with Bear Grylls to learn more about the different actions Scouts can take on dementia.

Register your group and download the leader's resource pack on dementia from A Million Hands website.

A Million Hands offers Scouts the opportunity to choose an issue that they are passionate about and take action on it, as part of working towards their Community Impact badge. Scouts can learn more about dementia, link with people affected by dementia in their community and give their time and energy to help. Scouts groups may also choose to focus on disability (supported by Leonard Cheshire & Guide Dogs); mental well-being and resilience (Mind) and clean water and sanitation (Water Aid).

Request a Dementia Friends Information Session to raise awareness of dementia as part of A Million Hands. Dementia Friends Information Sessions are one hour, awareness-raising sessions about what it is like to live with dementia and how we can all contribute to make our communities more dementia-friendly. They are run by Dementia Friends Champion volunteers and are suitable for anyone aged 5+.
