3. How dementia friendly technology could help you
If you or someone you know is living with dementia, the following infographic provides information about the types of product that could assist you in certain situations; whether you are worried about your memory, nervous about falling or have concerns around safety.
We also have a new assistive technology information sheet which outlines how dementia-friendly technology can benefit people affected by dementia. Please see below.
How can someone get hold of dementia friendly technology?
The first thing carers should do is to contact their social services department and ask to be assessed for a community care assessment. Assistive technologies should be offered as part of an overall package of care and support.
Do families have to pay for assistive technologies?
When carrying out your assessment, the council may also make a financial assessment and depending on the families’ finances, so you may receive assistive technologies free of charge, or there may be a small charge to pay.
