Dementia Awareness Week
Alzheimer’s Society would like to invite you to take part in the Alzheimer’s FitAthon.
A number of gyms have already signed up to help raise awareness for people and carers affected by Dementia. Dementia Awareness week is 14 - 20th May and we are asking people to attend at least one class during this time and encourage friends, and families to join too. Alternatively gyms are arranging a special fitness session for members/guests to attend on one of the days during Dementia Awareness week.
Guests can pay £5 to be a part of this or make a donation. All proceeds to Alzheimer’s Society.
Option 1 - Members attend specific classes (existing classes you currently run)
Option 2 - Special fitness session for members/guests to attend during Dementia Awareness week.
Option 3 - Collection buckets, posters and banners placed around the club to raise awareness and funds.
This is a great opportunity to unite gyms with a focus on raising awareness and also a marketing opportunity to encourage more people to sign up to the gym and get more healthy.
Mental decline happens progressively, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, but NEVER gets better. Leading a physically active lifestyle can have a significant impact on the wellbeing of people with dementia. Exercise is beneficial for physical and mental health and may improve the quality of life for people in all stages of the condition.
