Funding and Donations

Woking Branch is a voluntary organisation. Whilst our day centre is funded by statutory authorities, local fundraising is essential to our operation.

Our day care continues to be funded by Health and Social Services. Our Dementia Link Project is funded by partnership funding from the Surrey PCT. Because of the short- term nature of our funding, it is essential to have sufficient reserves to cover staff costs whilst seeking ongoing funds.

At present we occupy premises provided by Friends Of The Elderly.

We own two minibuses, with transport management services provided by Woking Community Transport. Replacement of each of these will cost in the region of £35,000, when it becomes necessary.

In addition to these expenses, we have to cover the costs of providing information and advice, carer support, fundraising and publicity.

In the last financial year our target for fundraising and donations was nearly £75,000. Fortunately we exceeded this due to a lot of hard work on the part of a small number of volunteers.
