Welcome!

Welcome to Woking Area web site.

Advice and information

The Branch offers a wide range of information and advice literature, and a small library of reference books and videos. We also have a data-base of dementia specific information.

A regular Branch newsletter is produced, to which all are encouraged to contribute. It enjoys a wide circulation, reaching those with an interest in the Branch.

Please let us know if you would like your name added to the mailing list.

Helpline

There is a telephone helpline from 9.00am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday
Tel: 01483 753651

Dementia Link Project

This consists of a carer support and advocacy worker who can visit carers at home to offer a listening ear, information and advice and help them make their views heard. We also have a dementia and memory support worker to help people in the early stages of dementia and her role includes developing early stage support services.

Carers' Support Group

The Carers' Support Group is an informal meeting that aims to bring carers together to support one another on a monthly basis. Contact the Branch for a detailed programme.

Day Centre

The Day Centre offers a stimulating day for people with dementia and a break for carers. Lunch and refreshments are provided, and escorted transport for those who need it. For more information about referral and assessment, contact the Day Centre Manager.

Funding and Donations

The Alzheimer's Society is a registered charity that relies heavily on volunteers for the provision of services. The day centre is poorly funded by Surrey Social Services and Surrey Care Trust, and at present our premises are provided by Friends Of The Elderly. Local fund-raising and donations are an essential part of our operation.

Volunteering

We are always looking for volunteers to help with fund-raising, publicity events, serving on the Development Committee, working as volunteers in the day centre etc. If YOU could help in this way, please contact the Branch.

We encourage membership of the National Alzheimer's Society, to enable the voice of people with dementia and their carers to be heard. Membership is free for carers and people with dementia, if they wish. Please contact us for a membership form.
