Care on a hospital ward

People with dementia may be admitted to general hospital wards either as part of a planned procedure such as a cataract operation or following an accident such as a fall. Carers and hospital staff can do much to help the person with dementia adapt to this strange new environment.

For more information on issues related to this setting including eating and drinking, medication, end of life care and discharge please see Factsheet 477, Care on a hospital ward
