Antipsychotics

Antipsychotic drugs are a group of medications that are commonly prescribed for behavioural and psychological symptoms in dementia. For information about how these drugs may be used, see factsheet 408, Drugs used to relieve behavioural and psychological symptoms in dementia.

Antipsychotics are often prescribed inappropriately and Alzheimer's Society is campaigning for a reduction in their use. For information about our campaign on this issue, visit alzheimers.org.uk/antipsychotics
