Sleeping

People with dementia may have trouble getting to sleep or may wake up in the night. Older people often need less sleep than younger people but dementia can also affect a person's body clock so that they may get up at the wrong time.

For information on how to help someone who is restless or wakes up in the night, see Factsheet 525, Unusual behaviour.
