Volunteer: Advocate, Cardiff and the Vale (Voice and Choice Big Lottery Project)
How will this role make a difference?
Volunteer advocates enable people with dementia and those who care for them to have a voice in decisions made regarding the provision of care services, and ensure their wishes and views are expressed to key professionals, organisations and carers.
How much time will I need to give?
Following training, we hope that you will be able to offer 2 or 3 hours each week and provide some continuity over a number of months.
What support will I get and what experience is needed?
Alzheimer's Society is committed to supporting volunteers in whichever role is carried out. For this role you will be supported by the Advocacy Manager. No special qualifications or experience is needed but this role would be ideal if you know about, or are willing to learn about, dementia and its impact on people. This role requires a Criminal Records Bureau check.
