Memory Walk project team volunteer - 5 Opportunities

Where will I be volunteering?

Derby or Chesterfield area.

What will I be doing?

The Memory Walk is Alzheimer's Society annual flagship fundraising event with local walks taking place all over the country. All funds raised will be used to support services for people with dementia and their families. This role is essential to ensure the success of the event.

  • You will be attending Memory Walk Project team meetings, supporting the team in accordance with its objectives.
  • Supporting the planning of a Memory Walk with the rest of the project team.
  • Providing a coordination and leadership role in the run up to the Memory Walk on the day itself, as directed by the Team Leader/and or Community Fundraiser.
  • Helping to recruit and/or support the Memory Walk volunteers.
  • Helping to promote the memory Walk and participation of walkers.
  • Helping to promote the memory Walk and participation of walkers.
  • Ensuring that all activities take place in a safe way in accordance with Society policies and external legislation (e.g. health and safety, money handling).

How much time will I have to commit?

Memory Walks usually take place in September each year. However, planning for these events takes a number of months. Typically volunteers in this role attend a number of meetings in the 6-8 months before the walk takes place, and help with practical activities outside these meetings. Volunteers in this role are expected to help out on the day of the Memory Walk.

To apply for this role or to find out more information please email volsderbyshire@alzheimers.org.uk, or telephone 01332 208845.
