Volunteer: Memory Walk Project Team Leader - Neath

Where will I be volunteering?

The walk will take place in the Neath Port Talbot area in September 2013 and preparation work will take place at the NPT Service Base at Tonna Hospital, Tonna, Neath SA11 3LX.

How does this role make a difference?

The Memory Walk is Alzheimer's Society annual flagship fundraising event with walks taking place all over the country.  All money raised will be used to support services for people with dementia and their families in the area local to the walk.  It will also raise awareness of dementia and the society's work inn the community.  This role is essential to ensure the success of the event.

What will I be doing?

The role will involve attending regular project team meetings and supporting the team.  You will be involved in planning the wallk, providing co-ordination and leadership in the run up to the event and on the day.  Activities will include helping to promote the walk together with recruiting and supporting other Memory Walk volunteers.

How much time will I need to give?

This role is flexible but you will need to be available in the run up to the event and on the day of the walk.

What support will I get and what experience is required?

Alzheimer's Society is committed to supporting volunteers in whichever role is carried out.  This role is supported by the Community Fundraiser for Wales and the Central Memory Walk Team.  No qualifications or experience are required as relevant induction and training for the role will be provided.  All agreed out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
