Volunteer: Singing for the Brain, Plymouth

Where is it you want me to volunteer?

Catherine Street Baptist Church, Plymouth

What will I be doing?

Singing for the Brain® is a social and interactive singing service for people with dementia and their carers.

Singing for the Brain® volunteers are needed to, register people into the service, to set up the room in preparation for the singing, to make and to distribute refreshments, to assist the leader in the delivery of the singing programme (this may be through distributing song sheets, handing out and collecting back in instruments and/or taking part of the group in a round) and most importantly to talk to, support and encourage the people with dementia and carers who attend.

Although all of the above tasks need to be completed Alzheimer’s Society is extremely keen to play to people’s strengths. Therefore not all volunteers have to complete all tasks.

All volunteers will be entitled to the reimbursement of their travel expenses.

How much time do you expect me to commit?

Singing for the Brain currently meets from 2pm – 4pm on Thursdays
