Volunteer: Memory cafes, East Riding of Yorkshire

Where will I be volunteering?

We have opportunities at various memory cafes across the East Riding: Brough, Gilberdyke, Goole, Hessle, Pocklington, Leven, Hornsea and Preston.

What will I be doing?

Memory cafes are informal social and information sessions for people with dementia and their carers.  Volunteers provide essential support to the Dementia Worker by helping to set up the room, make and serve refreshments, chatting and listening to people and encouraging participation in activities.  Typical sessions might include indoor sports, quizzes, musical entertainment, reminiscence or craft activity.  If you are reliable and have a sociable outgoing personality we would love to hear from you.

How much time do I need to commit?

The cafes are held monthly and a regular commitment of around 3 hours per month is appreciated. You may volunteer at more than one cafe if you wish.
