Volunteer: Befriender - North Powys & Montgomeryshire (Various locations)

How will this role make a difference?

Volunteer befrienders offer support and companionship to people in the early stages of dementia, helping them to take part in social and recreational activities in the local community.  Your involvement will help to significantly improve the well-being of people living with dementia, whilst reducing their risk of isolation.

How much time will I need to give?

Following training, we hope that you would be able to offer 2-3 hours each week and provide some continuity over a number of months.

What support will I get and what experience is required?

Alzheimer's Society is committed to supporting volunteers in whichever role is carried out.  For this role, you will be supported by the Befriending Manager.  No special qualifications or experience are needed.  This role requires a Criminal Records Bureau check.
