Alzheimer’s Society welcomes new Director of Fundraising and Marketing

Published 10 May 2011

Liz Showell has been announced as Alzheimer’s Society’s new Director of Fundraising and Marketing. Liz will take up her new role in August 2011.

Liz is currently Director of Fundraising at The Children's Society. For the last 20 years, she has worked in the not-for-profit sector, holding senior positions at the Red Cross, Guide Dogs, WSPA and the NSPCC.

Liz is very much looking forward to taking up the role. She said:

'I am absolutely delighted to be joining Alzheimer's Society at this exciting time in its history and look forward to leading a team that has already achieved so much. In ten years a million people will be living with dementia. Fundraising has such a vital role to play in ensuring that we support those people to live well and also fund research to find a cure.'

Jeremy Hughes, Chief Executive at Alzheimer's Society, said:

'We are thrilled that Liz will be joining us. Liz will bring a wealth of experience and skills to Alzheimer's Society, as well as her passion for supporting people with dementia and carers. Our fundraising and marketing efforts have gone from strength to strength in recent years, and we are very confident Liz will build upon this great success and take it to the next level.'

Liz has been a certified member of the Institute of Fundraising for several years and in 2011 will be a judge for the Institute's National Fundraising Awards.
