Frasier star backs Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk
Published 9 September 2010
Frasier star David Hyde Pierce is putting his support behind Alzheimer’s Society’s London Memory Walk.
The American actor, who played Dr Niles Crane in the American sitcom, recently completed a three-month stint in the West End production of La Bete and is a keen supporter of the Alzheimer's Association in the US.
David is familiar with the illness as his grandfather had Alzheimer's and his father had dementia.
He is now encouraging Londoners to get involved in Memory Walk - Alzheimer's Society biggest fundraising event, which aims to raise thousands of pounds to support people living with dementia in the capital.
David says,
'Walk. Get your friends to walk. Get your colleagues to walk. One way or another, Alzheimer's disease is in all of our futures, unless we act now.'
This year's Memory Walk, sponsored by healthcare provider Simplyhealth, is being held on Sunday, 26 September at Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park, next to London's Imperial War Museum. Walkers can take part in two and a half, six and ten mile walk.
It is one of 12 flagship walks being held across the UK throughout September.
