Make a difference in dementia care training

Published 7 April 2003

The Alzheimer's Society in association with Dementia Care Matters has launched a new publication aimed at anyone providing dementia care training.

Editor David Sheard of training consultancy Dementia Care Matters said, 'The aim of this new resource is make dementia care training more interesting, meaningful and fun.'

Make a difference in dementia care training contains 60 proven icebreakers and exercises that address key dementia topics. Session plans, notes, diagrams and evaluation questions ensure the exercises are ready to use immediately.

If your role involves training others about dementia care this toolkit will save you time and money whether you need a five-minute fun introduction to a training session or a practical exercise that addresses a key dementia topic.

This new resource manual (presented in handy A4 ringbinder) will show how to make training fun whilst helping people to learn more about dementia care.

The publication was written as a direct result of work completed on the Alzheimer's Society's Dementia Care Training Skills course. Participants were asked to design original training ideas that they then had to deliver as part of the training.

This new publication is just one of a new range of products and services aimed at those working in the dementia care field produced by the Alzheimer's Society.
