I'm a Celebrity star gives money raised to Alzheimer's Society’s work

Published 10 December 2008

Biff, Baff, Boff! David Van Day returns from the jungle with dollars for dementia.

He may have cut a controversial figure in the jungle but the appearance of David Van Day on the popular reality show, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, has resulted in much needed funds to help people with dementia and their carers.

The former member of hit eighties bands Dollar and Bucks Fizz chose to support Alzheimer's Society, and the work of his local Alzheimer's Society branch in Brighton, through money raised by telephone votes on the ITV1 jungle reality show that had the nation talking.

David caused a storm in the jungle by standing up to fellow contestants and undergoing the horrors of the bush-tucker trials the programme is so famous for, but every vote for David has helped Alzheimer's Society support those affected by dementia.

David Van Day says,
I'm a real fan of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and saw it as an ideal opportunity to raise money for Alzheimer's Society and help people with dementia, a cause close to my heart.

Alzheimer's Society thanks David for his support and wishes him luck with his soon to be released single.
