Alzheimer's Society landmark partnership with KPMG

Published 23 October 2008

Alzheimer's Society has won KPMG's national charity partnership, securing its largest ever corporate relationship by staff vote.

The two-year partnership could raise £750,000 for the charity and offer thousands of hours of volunteering.

Over 6,000 (55 per cent) of KPMG staff and partners voted in the firm's People Charity elections and over the next two years staff will embark on a calendar of fundraising and volunteering activities, that could include anything from pro bono professional support to helping one of our branches or creating a dementia garden.

Neil Hunt, Chief Executive of Alzheimer's Society, says,

We are hugely grateful to the staff and partners of KPMG for choosing Alzheimer's Society as their People Charity. The money raised will help us provide care for today and to find a cure for tomorrow.

Dementia is more than just memory loss; it robs people of their lives. 1 in 3 people over the age of 65 will die with the condition, yet dementia research and care is severely underfunded in the UK.  This will be Alzheimer's Society's largest partnership voted by staff and we hope it is a sign that the tides are turning for dementia.

Mike Kelly, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at KPMG says,

We are delighted to be working with Alzheimer's Society and its sister charity Alzheimer Scotland and are thoroughly looking forward to delivering with them an exciting programme of fundraising, volunteering and participation in many of the Society's challenging events.

We are committed to developing an innovative and effective partnership, positively contributing to the charity's vital work in the UK.
