Published 6 April 2011

A team of dedicated fundraisers will be aiming to break the world record when they tackle the world’s toughest triathlon as well as raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society.

The 6-man team from Urban Fitness GB, led by personal trainer Stu Baker, will attempt the gruelling Arch2Arc Enduroman challenge from Marble Arch in London to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

The challenge consists of an 87 mile run from Marble Arch,London to the Dover coast.  From there, the team then swim 22 miles across the English Channel only to begin the epic 181 mile cycle from Calais to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

Their gruelling world record attempt has received the support of former Champion Jockey and endurance specialist, Richard Dunwoody, and Nick Aldis aka 'Oblivion' from Sky One's Gladiators.

Richard, who walked 1,000 miles in 1,000 hours in aid of Alzheimer's Society, said:

'The Arch2Arc Challenge will not only test physical prowess but mental strength too. A challenge like this calls for great team spirit and I'm confident these dedicated athletes will be successful, particularly as they are supporting such fantastic charities which will give them the inspiration needed to get them to the finish line in Paris. I wish the Urban Fitness GB team the best of luck and thank them for raising money for Alzheimer's Society.'

Gladiator Nick, whose father has vascular dementia, said:

'A challenge like this is physically and mentally challenging at the best of times. Attempting to break the world record makes it even more commendable. The guys deserve a huge amount of credit for the dedication they've put in to training for such a gruelling challenge and I want to thank them for supporting Alzheimer's Society. The money they raise will help build a better future for people with dementia and their carers.'

Urban Fitness GB not only hope to break the world record of 37 hours 15 minutes but also raise £15,000 for their chosen charities, Alzheimer's Society and The Fire Fighters Charity. You can sponsor the team, find out more about their challenge or follow them on Twitter
