A renowned artist from the North-East will give a talk at an art auction to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society.

Sarah-Jane Szikora, best known for her colourful, quirky paintings of 'fat ladies' and gingerbread characters, will give a talk at the event at the Mansion House in Jesmond on Friday 18 March where visitors will have the chance to buy and bid for original works of art.

Sarah-Jane, who has supported the Society since her mum was diagnosed with dementia five years ago, will  talk about her work, the humour in her art, and why she backs the charity.
Sarah-Jane says;

'I don't think it should fall to charities to provide care and support for people, but it does. Thank God for Alzheimer's Society. I thought I may be able to help the charity in the course of what I do.'

Alzheimer's Society are hoping to raise much needed funds for people with dementia and their carers and the event offers an exciting opportunity for people to access new and interesting artwork.

Lucy Stadward, Area Fundraising Manager for Alzheimer's Society, says;

Sarah-Jane'This is a really exciting event for us and we are so grateful for the support of Sarah-Jane and the other fantastic artists who have been so generous in donating their time and work. This is a great opportunity for art enthusiasts and supporters of Alzheimer's Society to make a real difference for people living with dementia.'

Spaces at the event are limited, and if you are interested in attending you should contact zoe.thomas@alzheimers.org.uk or 07889 604 633.
